EF track car Empty
PostSubject: EF track car   EF track car EmptyWed Jan 14, 2009 2:55 pm

i thought i would introduce my other project.

its a 1990 honda civic EF 1.3 dx

i brought it asa run around while i was between EK's. it was an ebay special. £150 with lots of history and 120,000 miles, but it had a blown head gasket.

ended up towing it the 20miles home on the crappest tow rope you have ever seen. at one point the rope snapped and i ended up going through a bush into epping forest golf course. once at home thought i could set about repair lol.

got the head machined and wacked a new head gasket in and wal la, a working 1.3 honda civic for £200.

i wanted something a bit different to so i desides to re-spray the whole car matt black, but got a bit side tracked and never really finished it.

it eas at this point when i got my ek so it was moved to my front garden where it sat for nearly a year until i got bored and desided i had to time to start the process of making a track car.

totally stripped every thing out the car. all trim, roof lining, every bit of sound deadning out of the car. removed dash and removed the matting from behind there, i was so suprised how much all this weighed. also removed all the unnessasery brackets like rear seat brackets, jack holder, and anything else i didnt need. also choped out some rust in the back and replaced that with sheet steel. while i was there i also cleaned up all the seams ready to be seam welded when i get another welder.

sort of come to a holt now as i have no job at current and no cash.

have big plans for this car. when the cash come in i will be getting a full FIA omp rollcage with custom added extras Very Happy, seamwelding the chassis, 2 bucket seat, harnesses, also be replacing the d13 with a fully tuned b16, full custom fuel system, nice set of coilovers and lots of other bits and bobs. this thing will be a serious weapon when its done. looking at 200bhp and 750kg. Very Happy

yeah i could go k and b18 but theres no skill in building one. i would rather build i quick b16, my personal prefrence is never take the easy route, use your knowledge. i mean passing someone in a £80k car on a track when you have a £200 1.6, thats where the fun lies for me.

it also means that the car will still be eligible for race series ie nippon challege where you must retain the factory fit engine.

also when my b18 is built i will have a spare b16 laying around lol.
