my project frv Empty
PostSubject: my project frv   my project frv EmptyWed Feb 17, 2010 1:52 pm

my last car...

my project frv Untitled

After having my suzuki swift endlessly going wrong- i decided it had to go and be replaced by a more reliable one- but wanted to upsize my car due to family enlargement etc

originally i was thinking about the sporty zafira 7 seat but then thought all car enthusiasts with large families have them ( and vauxhall arent renowned for reliability) so on the off chance whilst doing the rounds of the dealers etc went into honda and found the usual but mega practical fr-v which i ended buying.....

my project frv ImagesCA3B3ZAJ (mines was a 58 plate one identical to this one)

me being me- having unusual cars becoming more unusual the modifications started......

(NOT NECESSARILY IN ORDER DONE)

Headlamps got changed from bulbs to HID's.........

from
my project frv 100_2354
to
my project frv 100_2355

Bonnet got covered in carbon fibre effect vinyl....

my project frv 100_2476
my project frv 100_2482

and new jets added...
my project frv 100_2483

to leave
my project frv 100_2486

then removed the original 16" silver 5 spoke wheels to put some 19" black and chrome zitos rims on with the low profile tyres and painted my calipers red (which will soon be uprated)
my project frv 100_2350

then blacked out rear windows....
my project frv 100_2340

despite there being loads of visual clearance- the wheels rubbed horribly so i had to have the arches flared front and back.....

then the problem of it looked really high so had the car lowered by 40 mm at the front and 35mm at then rear or pr springs (may change these to coilovers at some point but they do the job as they are)- also i had some multicolour undercar leds fitted.....

my project frv 100_2318

vast improvement on the handling and no rubbing after wheel alignment and tracking was sorted......

so i then worked on the front end.....

fitting audi style lights as my second set of sidelights ... also swapped the horrid yellow bulbs over for the silvertec equivalent so no orange egg was visible.....
my project frv 100_2335

then as an experiment i got some custom headlamp protectors and sprayed smoke tint on them and added some decals etc- then i liked the different look and ended up keeping them on the car....
my project frv 100_2353

then added some front end lights.... 2 sets of red scanners and 4 blue led lights in the front grill....
my project frv 100_2321

then the sunstrip went on (gloss black with a discreet mugen logo in matt black in the corner..... also the bumper driving lights were tinted and the bonnet vents were trialed later removed when bonnet was altered...
my project frv 100_2325
my project frv 100_2351

then the back was underway

the rear spoiler was added.....
my project frv 100_2352

a few badges were added (soon to be removed when boots smoothed) and the exhaust added and the rear lights smoked aswell
my project frv 100_2349
my project frv 100_2343

will hopefully be looking something like this soon....
my project frv Frvsmoothedrearpicdrawn

after the custom powerflo rear silencer was added, i wasnt happy with the amount of noise generated, there was a few massive silencers under the car preventing air flow, the cat was on the downpipe and very unaccessible so had to settle for leaving the cat on for time being, with a straight through pipe from front to rear which now sounds lovely!!

then talking of sounds- i shipped over from america (ALL JL AUDIO) 2 x 13" w3v3 subwoofers 2 pairs of 6x9 txi690s 1x 1000/1v2 amp 1x 400/4v2 and some front component speakers an extra battery and split charge relays etc...

when the misses kept moaning about the weekend shopping trips etc- i had to fill the boot to stop the constant whinging...
so a custom install got fitted totallling best part £4000

my project frv 100_2327
my project frv 100_2348

this all illuminates blue and after the install was done i added some extra strobe lighting aswell

interior wise im currently debating which route to take seat wise (poss black leather)..... also added an internal gps unit
my project frv 100_2474

some interior illuminating gauges....
my project frv 100_2475
my project frv 100_2488

and my life saver....
my project frv 100_2487

and put my forum names on the back windows and rear side windows.... (getting some jdm stickers over the weekend!!!!!)
my project frv 100_2478

and just general stickers of suppliers so far for ex wheel supplier and sound install company....

FUTURE PLANS>>>>>>>>

full bodykit to go on from singapore
doors handles removed to become remotely operated.....
boot smoothed to become remotely operated
full respray ( either black again as it is currently- or matt black)
not sure if will get decals (but is a possibility)
fully leathered out 6 seats and door cards and roof lining
a few interior panels colourcoded......
multimedia entertainment system to be fiitted (screens and pc in built to double din dash fascia) x box 360 and laptop hardwired for song database for sound system

strut brace for front
then for some more get up and go!!!!!!! engine tweaking etc but havent thought that far ahead yet... im not planning for it to be a racer just a little nippier!!!

ive also done some other minor mods but would be here all day and night taking pics and explaining them etc

Im hoping to have the exterior bobyworkwork sorted out and the interior leathered out by the end of this year- with the aim of getting it in a magazine as soon as possible.....
just relies on money incoming in abundance....... Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

of course..... i wanna get the car noticed etc

and love the car modding scene....!

it may be yourself who was on the pm thingy.... would the jdm stickers fit on my rear quarter window or are they the long stickers??? i saw some jdm stickers on a 200 spoiler which would suit the car quite nicely- and id be able to have a seperate window for the stickers etc as my other forum stickers are on a different window....

if youve got 4 spare i'd have 4 of them...... (to keep the car symetrical...) 1 either side in erar quarter and one either side of my rear window around my other stickers- im not sure a long sticker would fit too well but the same on the spolier as mentionned in previous post would fit lovely!!!!

hopefullty the snow will stay away over the weekend....
